Painting of the Romanticism epoch
From March 28 to the end of April, 2000
The House of Nashokin gallery. Moscow

In the exposition were presented both well known artworks by the best masters of national painting school and those that have never been exhibited in Moscow museums and were rarely shown in the Russian museum itself.

Art of the first half of the 19th century still preserves subtle fascination and attractiveness. Concept of Romanticism and romantic arouse true interest and define the character of perceiving art of the whole epoch that was full of variety of stylistic searches and contradiction.

Almost all the outstanding masters of the first half of the 19th century studied in the Emperors' Academy of Art where they were trained on the classical aesthetics' principles. But many of them realized in their life and art different artistic lines. They have gone down in history of Russian art as Romanticism artists - these are Orest Kiprensky, Karl Bryllov, Silvestr Schedrin and Maxim Vorobyov. Other artists - like Alexei Yegorov, Fyodor Bruni - still followed academic art though the whole row of their works could be regarded in the course of Romanticism tendencies. More than 50 canvases exhibited in the House of Nashokin gallery showed to audience the works of Russian painters in the new light.
